Been a few days without cell service or connectivity. Found a great camping spot for our second night, it was an interesting drive in, like a luge track, just wide enough for the vehicles with the snow 4 feet deep on either side. Finding firewood was tough for some strange reason, no dead standing trees at all. While out looking for wood we came across some large tracks that were fresh, both lupine and bear, figure it must have been a wolf as they were huge dog looking tracks but no human tracks in site anywhere. It was a cold night, about -19º but we all had good sleeps and were motivated to find coffee in Dease Lake.
Dease lake was closed when we arrived, we waited for the gas station to open and fueled up (233.9 for regular gas, 242.9 for 91) and got some breakfast sandwiches to go and were on our way.
We made it to Watson Lake for lunch and after a nice lunch at the hotel we fueled up and headed for Swan Lake Base Camp. We found the entrance to the camp, but the snow was so deep there was nowhere to park and the hike in would have been tough so we carried on and found a good spot for the night. Rob was able to snowshoe in a bit and get lots of firewood, his first time falling trees in snowshoes! A very cold night, Rob woke with a migraine but all the drinks were frozen solid so it took a bit to melt snow and boil the water for to take medication. Made it to Teslin for coffee and a bit more fuel early and then got on our way. The movie below was filmed at Johnson's Crossing.
Currently we are in Whitehorse, making arrangements to possibly store a bunch of our supplies so we can go in very light.
